My dayhome is contracted to the Strathcona County Family Day Home Agency. The agency is run by the local Family and Community Services, and can be reached at (780) 464-4044. This agency is accredited as a quality early childhood program through the provincial government's child care accreditation program - and I'm proud to say that my dayhome has been visited twice as part of the accreditation approval process! My agency provides a number of services, including insurance, childcare subsidy, backup care with another provider (if space is available), monthly newsletters, unannounced monthly visits to my home to confirm the quality and safety of the program I offer, and more detailed regular safety checks of my home. It provides me with professional support and training, and gives parents a place to bring any concerns that they may have.
Unlike with many agencies, my agency is not for profit, and I, as a provider, set my own rates. Payment is made directly to myself as the provider, except for child care subsidy payments, which come to me through the agency. Parents do not pay agency fees, beyond an initial registration fee of approximately $50. I, as a provider, pay a monthly fee to the agency to cover administration and insurance costs.
